Rynnsguard: 707th Grenadiers Guard "Diamondbacks"

The 707th Grenadiers was a unit I began working on a few years ago in a build a regiment event online. So the original idea of the unit came from the previous edition codex. Now with the new codex the unit is now a "Stormtrooper" unit. Being a Rynnsguard unit the background of the 707th is that they are an elite bodyguard unit that was dragooned into the Rynnsguard during the war with the Orks, they were trained to fight along side the Crimson Fist and were armed buy their lord with the best weapons the imperium could offer, hot shot lasguns, grenade launchers, carapace armor, and a chimera transport. Being veteran guardsmen helped too, and training with the new Crimson Fist added to that. Making this unit a deadly addition to the new Rynnsguard Heavy Guard Regiment.

2011 at the Rynnsguard HQ

Happy New Year!!

Well we started a whole new year. This blog isn't a year old yet but it has gotten a lot of action posted to it in the last year. Mostly thanks to my undertaking of an entire Valhallan army recently, but there are more forces of the Imperium that are in the works for my new blog. Let me give you a run down of where I stand here....

Rynnsguard Heavy Guard: The centerpiece of this blog is of course my Rynnsguard IG army, which has kind of fallen to way side due to my Valhallan project. I have finished a few units but most of what I have begun working on is still in the process of being finished. The most recent unit close to completion will be a unit of Grenadier stormtroopers which I hope to finish by the end of this month. Along with them I am working on some Lascannon conversions and Rynns World Militia unit. So the project still lives, slowly its getting there. Since the new codex came out I also don't have a working army list for this army so I am going to keep the project off to the side and build up slowly with the units I want to paint for them. Background wise I have given some thought to the story of this unit, and I have come up with a fun idea which I plan to flesh out as the units are finished.

199th Valhallan: Perhaps my most complete IG project to date, this army is still growing each day. Right now I am working the last touches of the armies first real tanks to join it. I am also working on a Super Heavy tank for the army. I have several ideas floating around my mind for this army this coming year, so this army is still far from complete any time soon. I might slow down on the work for the army but more units will be joining soon....Pack a Greatcoat we're going to play in the snow!

Grey Knights and The Inquisition: Perhaps one of my best built and painted marine forces I have for my imperials right now. My GK might be looking to get a new codex this year so I want to get some major work done on this army before the release. I am working on some Terminators at the moment, I have almost 2 squads of GKs finished, along with 2 squads of Stormtroopers finished and ready for deployment. The Dreadnought numbers for this army will also grow this year I hope, along with some new armor. Along with this force I want to get a force of Arbites finished for the fun factor, originally meant for Necromunda the squad will join my Inq forces for the fun of it. Along with these forces I am looking at working on some older 1st edition stormtroopers for a possible Ordo Xeno force. I got a few ideas in the works for this army, and it will be an exciting time to play Inquisition when that codex comes out. WOO HOO!

Titan Legion: 2 finished Titans is not enough for me! I still have 2 Warhounds which need finishing up and this year I want to get at least one more done for my Titan forces. Along with these I have a few titan crew models I want to work on for fun factor. Maybe I can finally get that Reaver Princeps painted this year.

Space Marines: Where to start with this project....so many to chose from...Crimson Fist, Dark Angel Ravenwing, Red Scorpions, Space Wolves, and Space Sharks. All of these ideas have crossed my mind, and I never seem to have time for them with so many other things do. Maybe this year I will finally pick one and get a force put together. The problem is that I am already getting my fix of power armored troops from my CSM and Grey Knights Projects. We'll see where this year leads me.....

Other Projects: Of course I have other Imperial projects on the hobby desk waiting for my attention. With Aeronautica Imperialis, 40K Epic Crimson Fist, and Imperial Terrain topping my list right now. My other IG ideas are also out there, Elysians are always on the back of my mind, Tallarn has not been abandoned just yet either. Finally a Squat IG project is always in my mind with the huge squat army I have in storage. The Imperial Navy is also looking for some love. So there is lots of space for expansion here and I will try to make the time when I can......

I wish all of you good luck in your hobby projects for 2011! FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Enjoy! =)

Rynnsguard Militia (Part 1)

While a lot of time was spent over the summer working on the Valhallan 199th, I still haven't forgotten about the Rynnsguard. Since the army is going to be made out of cadian models I dug up my older metal cadians and have begun to test out the Rynnsguard scheme on them to see how they might fill out my troop spots in the army. I'm still up in the air about the army list for the whole force, but these guys are alot of fun to paint up and try out with the new scheme. Check out these two volunteers in the new Rynnsguard Militia.

Rynnsguard Command

"The Rynnsguard is run just like any other Imperial Guard army, only we are under the command of the Crimson Fist leadership, our officers are trained just as hard as any guardsman regimental officer. Some might say harder since we have to work along side Space Marines most of the time" -Rynnsguard High Command Interview.

When I first began building my original 500 point force, I only had a Junior Officer in charge of the whole force, since most of my squads were going to have good leadership on the squad level. Now that things have changed I have begun to look into other options. Although my current command squad still is a usable unit.

Heavy Guard Chimera "707"

"This is the Saber calling in, we have deployed Diamond Squad and are holding down our positions, all other heavy guard squads converge on our position." The chimera commander signaled back to regimental HQ.

As a semi mobile force my Rynnsguard Heavy Guard will be the hammer that will strike hard and fast while the other forces hold the enemy in place. For this job I'm employing the every faithful Chimera IFV. Thanks to a little help from Forge World, I have given this chimera some cool add ons to make it a little different. The stormtrooper tank commander was fun add on to make the tank stand out a little more. As always FW to me is just an added cool factor to this hobby.

Rynnsguard Heavy Guard

"Sir the new class is ready for your review." The staff officer informed Colonel Sanchez as he looked out on the parade grounds from his office window. "Very well, lets see what we have created."

The Rynnsguard Heavy Guard was going to be my original creation when I first envisioned this army. Using grenadiers are my troops, now of course things have changed and I have moved these squads to the role of Stormtrooper type troops. I still have a bit of work to do in painting 3 full squads, but the models are some of the best looking IG troops in the current line. While I would like to see these in plastic, I was able to get all the bits I needed before GW shut down bits service. This unit is the 707th squad, and each squad will have its own chimera to carry the squads.

Your in the Rynnsguard Now!

Well it's been a few years since I touched these guys, but having recently read Rynn's World, I was inspired to reignite this little project. Originally the project was suppose to be a 500 Point Kill Team as you can see by the above pic, a small force of guard using the previous edition codex. Well it's a whole new codex and it's time for a revision. I've got a few more models already preped for this army, but here are some of the pics from the old 500 point contest. I will be posting new material soon, but I thought you might enjoy seeing a little bit of a preview for the future of the Rynnsguard.

Finally! An officer to straighten up the regiment....Line up for Paint Scheme Inspection!

I think I nearly hit a bulls eye on the scheme. The book describes the Rynnsguard as wearing cream colored uniforms, this old scheme of mine is almost on target! The armor is something I linked with the Crimson Fist armor. The tank scheme was something I took out of the Forge World marine book from a CF Rhino. A number of the models here are now finished, so I will be updating with new pics soon. Enjoy!
