Rynnsguard: 707th Grenadiers Guard "Diamondbacks"

The 707th Grenadiers was a unit I began working on a few years ago in a build a regiment event online. So the original idea of the unit came from the previous edition codex. Now with the new codex the unit is now a "Stormtrooper" unit. Being a Rynnsguard unit the background of the 707th is that they are an elite bodyguard unit that was dragooned into the Rynnsguard during the war with the Orks, they were trained to fight along side the Crimson Fist and were armed buy their lord with the best weapons the imperium could offer, hot shot lasguns, grenade launchers, carapace armor, and a chimera transport. Being veteran guardsmen helped too, and training with the new Crimson Fist added to that. Making this unit a deadly addition to the new Rynnsguard Heavy Guard Regiment.

Baltimore Games Day 2010: The Hunt for the Red Orktoba!

This year the Ineptus Astartes asked me to paint up a 2K Valhallan Guard army for our main 40K event "The Hunt for the Red Orktoba". Well I am not a known speed painter and I only had 2 and a half months to crank out a pure infantry army. After much snarking and growling at the local battle bunker(it's true ask them!), I present my fully painted Valhallan Ice Warrior force. The force is based on the guard army of the cover of Planetstrike which featured a Valhallan army facing down an Eldar invasion. I really liked the cream colored scheme, and have attempted to copy it to my army. The army comes close to 140 models, and I was also able to talk two of my friends into loaning me the Imperial Naval support for the army.....Well here it is...finished and ready to roll out....

Games Day 2010 Project (Part 9)

STORMTROOPERS! Yes in this update we leave behind the Valhallan Guard to report on another aspect of the project I am working on. I felt that the army needed a fun heavy hitting unit besides vets and the like, and also to give the force a nice Imperial feel. My Stormtroopers are part of my Grey Knights force, which is why the bases are different, but they also fit perfectly into an imperial force of guard. In addition to the troop units I built for the Grey Knights, I brought in some extra assault weapons and sergeants to make the units usable in both IG and GKs. In addition to the forces being used in this event, I painted 2 additional Stormies with Grenade Launchers in case we feel like making changes to the force, or future use in my GKs army. Games Day 2010 Project (Part 7)

I've been a bit quiet the last few weeks, as I've been churning out guardsmen after guardsmen and its left me little time to really do much blogging. While I painted away and watched the new WHFB 8th edition come out, I told myself that once this is all done I can test the new 8th edition out. All this time has paid off as I finally got the second batch finished. More on that in my next update. As you can see by the counter on the right, I have been adding to the tally a lot lately. Once again as I am getting just about done with all the heavy weapons, what should show up...MORE RECRUITS! WOO HOO!


Yeah we have a commander! Chenkov will be my acting CO for this force. To top that off, we have assault weapons troops too....Fire it up!


Stormtroopers and heavy weapons, what else could you need to win battles....FIRE!

Games Day 2010 Project (Part 5)

We need MORE TROOPS!! Muster more Valhallans for the regiment!

My luck tonight as I made my way to the bunker on an off day for me, just as I was putting the final basing touches to my recently finished heavy weapons for the army, MORE troops arrive to be processed for the regiment. My friend Alex who is helping with the base-coating and base-washing brought the next batch of recruits just in time! So this weekend we begin the process once more and add more troops to this project. As you can also see on this site, I have added a nice little model counter to your right showing the progress of completed Valhallans, which I hope to add more to that count soon! I will feature the heavy weapons in my next update.....


Troops! Troops! And More Troops! Oh....More heavy weapons crews too! Hmmmmm....


NCOs! Sweet now this rabble is about to start looking like a real army.....The Stormtroopers are coming along too....

Well it's back to the ole grind! Raising a new regiment can be so much work sometimes. After my adventure in the Iron Painter, I am back to working on the Valhallans and plan on staying on this project for most of my hobby time now. Thanks to the help of several people I have been able to get a lot of these guys base coated and prepared for all the detail work to begin.  I have also compiled a To Do List of the entire force....Check it out!
