Preparing for Armies on Parade WIP

This year I plan on putting together a display for Armies on Parade. The entries I saw last year at my local store left me shaking my head and wondering why I hadn't entered. This year I plan on changing that, and I have begun work on my display board. This also provides me with a perfect excuse to work on some of my terrain sitting around unpainted and unfinished, in addition to getting some new toys and doing some converting.

I chose my dependable 199th Valhallan as the star army for the display this year. Finished a few years ago, the army is one of my best ones I have built and painted and I have a lot of IG terrain I can employ for the army.

The above shot is from 2 months ago when I began the process of painting some defensive terrain and getting an idea for how I wanted the board to look like. The following shot are from a month ago with the final winter board ready to go, now I just need to get the terrain finished. You might notice that I am using one ForgeWorld's newest terrain pieces for my display. I have also converted some FW Pillboxes with some planet strike bits to make them able to mount the defensive guns. I still have a few more additions to the army and terrain before it's all done....so more to follow!

Rynn's World Challenge! DAY 6 Update

Well in a rare feat of posting on a Saturday, this past week has been a busy one for me with this side project. Base coating was the word of the week as I worked fast to get some primer on the AoBR models and get a good base coat of Regal Blue to begin the Crimson Fist transformation. I also dug up my abandoned Sternguard and Scouts to join in the fun. This weekend will be a busy one for me as I attempt to finish a few of these units.....Enjoy the WIP Pics!

Rynn's World Challenge!

Well this year is the 25th Anniversary of 40K, and they have announced that the special model for this event is a Crimson Fist model. This has caught my eye, and I have already placed one on order of course. How could I not, after all this site is inspired by the Crimson Fist space marine chapter and Rynnsguard forces. Well this weekend I found out that for this event my local GW bunker has set a challenge of painting an entire Black Reach marine set in the colors of the Crimson Fist. Well I went halves on a box of AoBR and I took the marines while a friend of mine took the Orks. We both have 2 weeks to paint up the contents of the box. I figured this would be a great jump off point for my CF army. Yes last year I began working on some scouts but since the Grey Knights project took up a lot of my time I had little time for them. I am about the be done with GKs for a little while, so I want to move onto my CF army finally. Well here's what I got to get done in 2 weeks.....

1 Captain
5 Terminators
10 Tac Marines
1 Dreadnought

I also have the option of adding the special 25th Anniversary model to the force and Pedro Kantor, both of which I have. I also plan on revising an old Vet Squad and finishing my 2 Scout Squads.....So here we go!

Grey Knights: Strike Squad Two

My second grey knight strike squad is finally finished and up to full 10 men strong. The squad was a 5 man squad for a few months while I worked on other parts of the project, but after a while I got back to finishing the last 5 knights for the squad. This unit is armed with Psycannons for fire support and heavy assault.

Grey Knights: Strike Squad One

This was my first squad I finished for this army a few months ago, but I never did a profile post on the squad and featured them in updates before. Now that I have had a little more time I am adding this profile post to look at this squad. It was my first unit which I tried the paint scheme that would be set for the rest of the army to come, as well as try out the resin bases for the army. The unit is armed with incinerators for assault weapons.

Grey Knights: Nemesis Dreadknight

The Dreadknight is one of the new model kits in the new GK line. It's one of the most unique models I have seen in the imperial arsenal. Only the Tau have anything close to this beast that might fit in the mecha look. Although this was a personal must have for me as I am always a big robot fan, and couldn't help having one of these in my army. After getting one on the first day the codex came out here are my results. I tried to give it a bit of color besides the shiny armor. The Heavy Psycannon was calling me to arm it on this mech. Now I need to find 2 gatling cannons for the next upgrade, and I have made the weapons modular so I can change his load out as I need it. I call him the Golden Knight!

Grey Knights: Paladin Squad

Paladins are one of the newest units in the new codex, and after reading up on them I had to have at least a small force in my army. Originally I was going to have GK Terminators in my army but when they got bumped to troops that changed the plan. Now I needed to find a new retinue unit for my HQ, and these guys were the answer. These are only the first of a unit that will grow bigger in the future. Right now I got the meat of the squad done, next we will add more specialized Paladins to add more flavor to the squad.

Grey Knights: Terminator Squad Two

The second squad of Terminator Grey Knights is finally finished. This unit sports an incinerator for its special weapon. So they are willing to risk a short teleport into the enemy lines to burn them out and assault them. I have taken the lessons I learned from the previous squad and learned a few more from this one. I chose different colors for the squad logo using a sword for their combined insignia.

Update: Grey Knight Dreadknight

The Dreadknight is one of the few new models I picked up for this army when the codex hit the shelves. The model has a great ExoSquad look to it, and I was sold. How can I say no to a big robot/mech?! I picked one up mostly for the coolness of the model, but after reading up on it, the game use for it was also very cool too. So here is my most current update on the model. I have the upper body built but I'm not done with the arms just yet.

Grey Knights: Autocannon Deadnought

Finally my second heavy support is finished for my Grey Knights strike force. This is what is now known as a "Rifleman" variant of the marine dreadnought. Armed with two twin linked autocannons and psybolt ammo, its weapons are a nasty powerful tool for taking down even some heavy armored tanks. A conversion between ForgeWorld and the Throne of Judgement special character legs and back. I think the parts matched well, and the whole package came out looking very Inquisitorial. What do you think?
